Will

 

            The Last Will and Testament of James Bradshaw of the Town of Princetown, County of Schenectady, and State of New York.

            I James Bradshaw, considering the uncertainty of this mortal life and being of sound and disposing mind and memory, thanks to Almighty God for the same, Do make and publish this my Last Till and Testament in manner and form following (that is to say)

            First.  I do Will and order, that all my just debts and funeral charges shall be paid by my Executors, as soon as may be after my decease out of my personal estate.

            Second.  To my Son Samuel B. Bradshaw, I give and bequest all my real estate, lands and tenements, not herein otherwise disposed of, and to his heirs and assigns forever, upon condition that he my said son Samuel B. his heir Executor of administrators do and shall disburse and pay to my respective daughters hereinafter named the several sums of money, and at the times and in manner following (that is to say)

            To my Daughter Charlotte Pulver, wife of Henry Pulver, the sum of Two Hundred and Sixty-five dollars, at the expiration of one year from and next after my decease, and the further sum of Two hundred and sixty five dollars at the expiration of four years from and next after my decease, and the remaining sum of Two hundred and seventy dollars at the expiration of six years from and next after my decease, making in all the sum of Eight hundred dollars to be paid to my daughter Charlotte by my son Samuel B. as aforesaid.

            To my Daughter Ann Wingate, the sum of Six hundred dollars to be paid her by my son Samuel B. as aforesaid, in two equal payments, the first payment to be made at the expiration of one year, and the last payment, at the expiration of five years from and next after my decease.

            To my Daughter Ruth Mallock, the sum of Eight hundred dollars to be paid her by my son Samuel B. as aforesaid in three payments the first payment two hundred and sixty  five dollars, to be made at  the expiration of two years, and the second payment of two hundred and sixty five dollars at the expiration of three years, and the last payment of two hundred and seventy dollars, at the expiration of six years from and next after my decease.

            And I do further Will, order, and direct that my said son Samuel B. his heirs, Executors, or administrators shall also pay to Briggs Bradshaw the only child of my deceased son James William Bradshaw the sum of Four Hundred dollars to be paid out of my personal property, to be paid him on his attaining the age of twenty one years, with interest in the said four Hundred dollars from the expiration of one year from and next after my decease, until paid.

            And I do Will that my son Samuel B. provide for said Grandson Briggs Bradshaw, a good horse not over five years old worth One hundred dollars, also a Saddle & Bridle, to be delivered to him when he attains the age of twenty one years.  But of the said Briggs Bradshaw shall not live to the age of twenty one years, then the — bequest as to the four hundred dollars and interest, and the horse, saddle and bridle shall be void.

            To my Daughter Martha Maria Quick the sum of Two hundred dollars to be paid her by my son Samuel B. at the expiration of one year from and next after my decease.

            I give and bequeath to my Son Samuel B. Bradshaw all my — Cattle, also all my farming utensils and carriages, also the team of fox horses which he now occupies, also the Desk in the room I now occupy.

            All my household furniture shall be divided equally between my said daughters, Charlotte, Ruth, Martha Maria, and Ann excepting the desk I have named to my Son Samuel B.

            All the rest residue and remainder of my personal estate not herein otherwise disposed of I give to my son Samuel B. and to my daughters Charlotte, Ruth, Martha Maria, & Ann to be equally divided between them.

            And Last I hereby appoint my son Samuel B. Bradshaw and my friend James __ast of the town of Princetown aforesaid executors of this my Last Will and Testament thereby revoking all former Wills by me made.

            In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the fourth day of March in the year of our Lord one Thousand Eight Hundred and fifty six.

Signed, Sealed published & declared by the above named James Bradshaw to be his Last Will & Testament in presence of us who at his request, & in his presence have thereunto subscribed our names as witnesses & in the presence of each other
