Bradshaws in Princetown, Rotterdam, and Duanesburg, 1860

The following notes are from a full search of the 1860 Census of three towns in Schenectady County, New York, made on June 15, 1999, at the National Archives in Washington, DC, by Walter Stromquist.  Notes were taken of all persons with the surname “Bradshaw” and a few of their neighbors.

The National Archives microfilm for Schenectady County consists of one roll with pages numbered from 1 to 507.  (Where there are multiple page numbers we refer to the heavy handwritten numbers added to the corners of the pages, not the page numbers written by the enumerators.)

Duanesburg listings cover pages 427-507, and contain no persons named Bradshaw.  There is a listing for a merchant named George Bradford, age 23, with Ellen, age 22, and Mary, age 1.

Rotterdam listings cover pages 1-56.  The pages contain different dates during October, 1860.  All of the Bradshaw listings are on page 37, dated October 12, 1860, on lines 12-37.  (There are 40 lines per page, with one person per line.)  Persons are explicitly shown as being born in New York except as noted.  The two numbers shown for some persons are the value of real property and personal property, respectively.  Persons marked * attended school during the year (although some such notations may have been omitted from these notes).
